Who we are

Hello, I’m Emily — the mentor behind A Safe Place.

I’ve worked with teenagers for over 15 years as a teacher, guardian, and safeguarding officer. I’m also a parent, a trained creative educator, and a qualified Internal Quality Assurer. My work has always been centred on supporting young people to find their voice, their confidence, and their own path forward — especially those who don’t always fit into neat boxes.

My mentoring style is integrative and person-centred. I don’t follow one rigid model — instead, I adapt to what each young person needs. For some, that might be talking things through. For others, it might be exploring with hands-on creativity, or focusing on planning, motivation and practical steps. What matters most is that they feel safe, seen, and supported.

I have particular experience supporting:

  • Neurodivergent teenagers (including autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD)

  • Anxious or overwhelmed students, including those struggling with transitions like GCSEs or sixth form

  • Young people experiencing low mood, identity questions, or school avoidance

I’ve completed safeguarding and mental health training (including from the National Autistic Society), and am fully DBS checked. I work flexibly, with care, humour, and real commitment to each young person I support.

If you think A Safe Place could help your child, or if you’d like to find out more, I’d love to hear from you.
